Johannesburg - A 71-year-old pilot was killed when his plane crashed in Brits on Sunday, North West police said.
Brigadier Thulani Ngubane said the pilot was flying alone in a two-seater RV7 aircraft when he developed a medical condition that caused blurry vision.
“He attempted to land the aircraft four or five times, but could not do so. He later said over the radio that he is having a total black-out and could not see anything. His radio went quit after that.”
Ngubane said other pilots found the wreck near the top of a mountain, near Rashoop Airfield.
“The pilot was found dead on the scene. His name can't be released as his next of kin have not yet being informed of his death.” - Sapa
